Workshops

I run psychology-based online workshops for actors around the world, on the topics of the six books in my Psychology for Actors Series.

Each workshop is grounded in performance psychology and gives actors practical, repeatable, psychology-based tools they can apply immediately.

The emphasis of my workshops is always on application, not theory.
Actors leave with tools they can use straight away for the rest of their careers: on set, during performances, and in their ongoing training.

Workshop topics

Memorization for actors

Based on my best-selling book Memorization for Actors, this workshop teaches a clear, repeatable, psychology-based process for learning lines faster and more reliably, even under extreme deadlines.

Memorization is often treated as a private, behind-the-scenes task, but in reality, it directly shapes an actor’s ability to be in the moment. When actors really know their lines, they are free to play, to take risks, to show off their acting skills.

The goal of this workshop is simple: to remove the need to think about lines, so actors can focus entirely on acting.

Performance under pressure

On set, during performances, or when meeting important people, actors are often required to perform at their best while under scrutiny and internal pressure.

During these moments, the body goes into fight-or-flight mode, resulting in missed opportunities, regrets, and sometimes marking the onset of chronic stage fright.

Based on my book Self-Confidence for Actors, this workshop teaches practical psychological techniques to help actors regulate their nervous system in high-stakes situations, so they can develop the skill to stay calm when it matters most.

The workshop also provides a safe space to explore performance anxiety caused by previous or future events and offers practical solutions for re-igniting the love of performing in front of others.

Conquering the inner critic & imposter syndrome

For many actors, the greatest disruption doesn’t come from external circumstances, but from internal noise: self-doubt, comparison to other actors, and the feeling of not being “good enough.”

Based on my book Self-Confidence for Actors, this workshop provides a safe space to explore the patterns behind the inner critic and imposter syndrome, understanding how they emerge in different situations, and applying psychological techniques to reduce their impact on performance and day-to-day life.

Over the course of the workshop, actors learn how to build a more stable internal foundation so that they can improve their inner monologue and turn it into a helpful ally instead of a source of self-sabotage.

Overcoming rejection

Rejection is a constant part of an actor’s career: self-tapes that receive no response, callbacks that raise hopes only to end in disappointment, long periods of unemployment.

Over time, these experiences can affect confidence, consistency, and the willingness to take creative risks.

Based on my book Resilience for Actors, this workshop teaches practical psychological strategies for processing rejection and disappointment in a way that protects actors’ mental health and the motivation to keep going.

The workshop also provides a safe space to explore existing concerns and offers practical tools to transform hopelessness into clear positive actions actors can implement straight away.

Building career momentum

Actors are often required to juggle bill-paying jobs, acting classes, auditions, and other commitments while navigating periods of uncertainty and a fluctuating workload.

Based on my book Motivation for Actors, this workshop teaches psychological tools for balancing conflicting time and energy demands while maintaining clarity of purpose and a good level of self-care.

The workshop also provides a safe space to explore existing self-sabotaging patterns and offers practical solutions to help actors manage their energy, maintain consistency, and become unstoppable in their acting career.

Why this work matters

The industry and the world are both changing at an unprecedented pace, and these changes will benefit those actors who have the skills to truly understand themselves amidst an ever-shifting reality.

This is what my psychology-based workshops offer.

How the workshops run

The workshops are delivered online, hosted by acting studios and drama schools, and are designed to integrate easily into existing programmes.

They can be:

  • One-off sessions (typically 2 hours)
  • Short series (4, 8, or 12 weekly classes)
  • Ongoing weekly classes

Each workshop is tailored to suit the specific needs and level of the students.

What studio owners say

Alexa Ispas’s workshop was a true game-changer for our actors: practical, engaging, and immediately applicable. I have been a devoted supporter of Alexa’s work from the moment I discovered her book series for actors.

Memorization for Actors was revolutionary for me, and her writing on self-care for performers—particularly Self-Confidence for Actors—is a rare and valuable gift. It is uncommon to find a professional in this field who combines highly effective techniques with a deep understanding of the importance of self-care for actors. Alexa delivers this work with precision, exceptional organization, and clarity—and most importantly, her techniques truly work.

It is abundantly clear that she genuinely loves actors. Her passion, combined with a deep knowledge of psychology and the techniques she has developed, makes her a remarkable force in the field. Take her workshops, read her books, and become a stronger actor—and a more grounded, confident person overall. We were so impressed, we’re hosting it again, and keeping it on rotation on a regular basis at Screen Acting Academy.”
